COVID PROTOCOL CALLS FOR FACE COVERINGS WHEN UNABLE TO MAINTAIN A 6-FOOT SOCIAL DISTANCE. This is a good all-weather and scenic walk so we'll repeat it! This is a leisurely walk on a level, wide and paved portion of the D&L Trail near Easton.

After introductions, I’ll provide a brief talk on the history of the D&L canal through this area. In particular, at this point canal boats crossed the Lehigh River to from the north to the south bank. Also there is Island Park, now wilderness but over a century ago was a thriving amusement park served by trolley from Easton. Last month, there were portable potties at the start but none anywhere else on the walk. So come prepared! Dress for the weather! Temperatures will probably be in the low 30s. Please RSVP so we have some idea how many hikers we have.
