Let's watch the Super Blue Full Moon rise from the Pinnacle!

Please arrive by 4:15pm for a prompt 4:30pm departure. Come and watch the Super Blue Full Moon rise from the Pinnacle. This is a 9 mile loop hike, starting at the Hamburg Reservoir parking lot and then going up to the Pulpit and Pinnacle for spectacular views of the rising full moon. Sunset is at 7:39pm and moonrise is at 7:52pm. This is not a beginner's hike due to the ~1000' ascent, rocky terrain and nighttime conditions. Sturdy hiking boots and trekking poles are recommended. Bring a headlamp or flashlight, at least 2 liters of water and food/snacks. Rain or cloudy conditions may cancel.

A baseball outing with the Keystone Trails Association at the Lancaster Barnstormers.

What a great way to support the Keystone Trails Association plus enjoy an evening of baseball! The KTA has a block of tickets reserved for this event in Section 13, right behind the home team dugout! Let's take a stroll around the park ~ For those of us who need some easy walking to get back in shape... we will take a walk around the ballfield next to the Quakertown Park at 4th and then around the walking path in the park. Two plus/minus miles depending on how much you want to do. The ballfield is about a mile and a half and you can head to your car or continue around the park to double that amount. Possible drive/walk to the Trolley Barn afterwards.

9-13 mile loop hike on the trails of South Mountain Preserve, with some possible exploratory trekking.

This preserve features woodland trails, large rock outcroppings, small stream crossings, moderate inclines, and several boardwalks. We will start the hike from Klines Lane parking lot at 11am so that folks can first stop at the Emmaus Farmers Market which opens at 10am. Sturdy hiking boots are recommended as the terrain is moderately rocky and some areas may be muddy. Bring water and lunch/snacks.

Walk to a Concert in the Park ~ The Large Flowerheads

Due to the threat of thunderstorms tonight the concert has been cancelled and so has the walk ... Let's take a walk to the Park to see The Large Flowerheads We'll start at the other end of town and walk about a mile to the Park and then walk back after enjoying the concert. Bring a chair or blanket. You can bring food or purchase from the food truck. Looking for helpers on a maintenance hike to clear several blowdowns between Bake Oven Knob Road and the Knife Edge. Please wear sturdy boots and bring gloves. If you have not already contacted me but are planning to join us, please text me.

We’ll be walking in from Bake Oven Knob parking lot to the Knife Edge carrying a chainsaw and associated safety equipment and removing blowdowns. I will be requesting help with carrying equipment and removing cut logs from the trail. Some sections of the trail are very rocky and require good balance to navigate. Please wear sturdy boots and bring gloves. No pets.

Loop hike through the rolling hills of the Bryn Coed Preserve.

We will be hiking through open fields and woods in this 500-acre former farm that has been preserved by Natural Lands Trust. The preserve includes a Pennsylvania Champion white oak, the headwaters of the Pickering Creek, and several Bald Eagle nesting spots. Terrain is mostly flat, mostly sunny with periods of shade and can sometimes be muddy so wearing hiking boots is recommended. Bring lunch/snacks and water. Steady rain cancels.
