Walk along the Lehigh River on a rail trail.

We will walk north from Cove Road. This section of trail is nestled between a steep hillside and the Lehigh River, providing views of the water and a rare feeling of isolation in the Lehigh Valley. After 4 miles we will turn around and return to our cars. Bring water and snacks. Steady rain on morning of hike cancels. No calls the morning of the hike.

Meeting place: Meet at Cove Road Trailhead, which is under the Rt. 145 bridge over the Lehigh River. Driving north on Rt. 145, look for the street and D&L sign on your right. If you drive across the Lehigh River, you missed the turn.

Hike the rolling hills of Jacobsburg

We will cover many of the 18 miles of trails this park offers. Trails of varied surfaces are through meadows and forests with rolling hills. Hiking boots recommended and water shoes might be nice to have for a cooling walk through Bushkill Creek. Bring water and lunch/snacks. Heavy rain cancels.

Hike the Bushkill Trail and a loop trail in Jacobsburg Environmental Education Center.

We will start by hiking the 2 mile long Bushkill Trail, which traverses rural Bushkill Township between PA 512 and Jacobsburg. The trail looks like a rail trail, wide, level, with a crushed stone surface. When we enter Jacobsburg, we will hike a 4 mile loop in the park, and then return to our cars via the Bushkill Trail. Walk in Cedar Creek Park and 3:00pm Concert at Allentown Symphony Hall.

We will walk one hour in the Cedar Creek Park enjoy the Rose Garden, then enjoy the 3pm Concert of the Allentown Symphony followed by a brew at the Brew Works.
