Hike the Switchback Railroad in Jim Thorpe (11-12 miles)A loop hike of the switchback railroad and through Jim Thorpe.
This rugged hike will start at Mauch Chunk Lake Park. We will hike on historic rail beds with a graded ascent to a vista followed by a steep descent back into town. And a swingset! This is a 10-11 mile loop hike that will start with a 400' climb from the trailhead up to the bluffs followed by a cliff walk towards Raymondskill Falls, the tallest waterfall in PA, where we will stop for lunch. We will continue on to Hackers Falls and Milford Knob before descending back to the trailhead. Steady rain or thunderstorms will cancel. Bring at least 2L of water plus lunch and snacks. |

Trexler Nature Preserve Hike – Border TrailReally HARD 10+ miles hike around the perimeter of Trexler Nature Preserve.
Details: We’ll be hiking the challenging Border Trail loop at Trexler Nature Preserve, which features rolling hills, steep climbs, long switchbacks, open fields, and a stream crossing. Rated HARD by the preserve, this is not a beginner’s hike and requires good physical condition. Be sure to bring at least 2 liters of water, snacks or lunch, sunscreen, bug spray, and wear sturdy hiking boots. Trekking poles are highly recommended.
