Trexler Nature Preserve (5 miles)Weekday Hike around the Trexler Nature Preserve
This hike will incorporate most of the Fireman and Elk Viewing Trails as well as a small bit of the Border Trail. We will have several relatively short inclines/declines but the trail is mostly packed dirt. This route will take us along the Jordan Creek for a bit and we may get a glimpse of the bison and elk herds. Be prepared for muddy conditions in spots if there has been recent precipitation. Wear hiking shoes with good traction and poles or a hiking stick may be helpful. Rain or snow cancels hike. This hike will be co-led by Heidi Forgione as she becomes an official Allentown Hiking Club hike leader. |

Nolde Forest Loop Hike (8-10 miles) - DATE CHANGELoop hike through the Nolde Forest
Nolde Forest encompasses more than 665 acres of deciduous woodlands and coniferous plantations. A network of trails makes the center’s streams, ponds, and diverse habitats accessible to all.
We will hike most of the trails that wander throughout the park under tall trees and near creeks. Some trails are footpaths and others are remnants of gravel roads used by original owners of the mansion. We will stop at the Mansion to check out its unique architecture.
Sturdy hiking boots are recommended. Bring at least 2L of water and lunch / snacks. Heavy rain cancels.
Trail map can be found here:

Hike / bike / on-water distance: 8-10 miles Hike rating: C Meeting place: To my knowledge there is no street address for this parking lot. This parking lot is on Route 625 just a few miles south of the intersection with Route 724. You can refer to the link with the trail map and the Sawmill parking lot is very clearly marked. UPDATE 12/14: Due to significant vandalism in the Lehigh Parkway, this event is closed until further notice. This event plus the same event next week will be dependent upon the event reopening. Vandalism forces closure of Lights in the Parkway until further notice
https://www.wfmz.com/news/area... Mondays are FREE ... so let's give it a try! The website indicates that parking is available on Grammes Road, which is behind the Queen City Airport. Let's meet in front of Ferguson Selection Center (1818 Grammes Road) and from there we can continue as a group through the Lehigh Parkway. I'll be wearing a string of lights so you can more easily find me.
I'm expecting it to be crowded with traffic so plan to arrive early so we can gather and leave on foot by 5:30. A flashlight or headlamp is suggested for the walk from our cars toad from the Holiday Lights.

Bethlehem Holiday HikeAnnual Holiday Hike in Bethlehem
Join us to hike on the streets of historic Bethlehem enjoying the sights and sounds of the holiday season. The pace will be liesurely. Bring a flashlight for the dark sections since the street trees have made the sidewalks uneven. We will walk for 2.5 hours. If there is interest, we can stop to eat afterward. This has been a decades long tradition for the club. You can join for all or part of the hike, but if you leave the group during the hike let a leader know first and you are on your own to return to the starting point. |

50th Annual New Year's Eve Hike to the Allentown Shelter (8 miles)End the year with a hike on the Appalachian Trail!
UPDATE: The State Game Lands parking lot is somewhat cleared but mostly solid ice. The trail is mostly solid ice, as well. Traction devices will be a must tomorrow so definitely bring those along. It’s not supposed to get above freezing anytime soon, so I do not expect conditions to improve. ![]() ![]() PLEASE WEAR BLAZE ORANGE AS WE WILL BE ON STATE GAME LANDS AND SHARING THAT SPACE WITH HUNTERS.
We will meet at the PA State Game Lands parking lot on Route 309 for a 4 mile hike to the Allentown Shelter. At the shelter we will enjoy snacks and friendship, so feel free to bring goodies to share around the shelter's picnic table. After a suitable time for socializing, we will hike 4 miles back to our cars. Since we will be spending time at the shelter, bring an extra layer of clothing to stay warm. No dogs or alcoholic beverages. Steady rain or snow on the morning of the hike cancels this event. 12-31-25 11:00 am | Hike

UPDATE: The parking lot on Fort Franklin Road is solid ice. Approaching the parking lot from the south/Leaser Lake seems to be the better approach. That road is clear and dry. The road on the north side of the mountain is a gravel road, and while it has been cindered, it is quite icy. The trail is mostly solid ice, as well. Traction devices will be a must tomorrow so definitely bring those along.
