Details: We’ll be hiking the challenging Border Trail loop at Trexler Nature Preserve, which features rolling hills, steep climbs, long switchbacks, open fields, and a stream crossing. Rated HARD by the preserve, this is not a beginner’s hike and requires good physical condition. Be sure to bring at least 2 liters of water, snacks or lunch, sunscreen, bug spray, and wear sturdy hiking boots. Trekking poles are highly recommended. The hike will be canceled in case of heavy rain or thunderstorms.

Meeting place: Trexler Nature Preserve Observation Parking Lot, Orchard Road, Schnecksville, PA.

Please arrive by 4:15pm for a prompt 4:30pm departure. As we will need to make it up to the Pinnacle by sunset, the group will leave on time. Please plan accordingly.

Come and watch the full moon rise from the Pinnacle! September's Full Moon, the Full Corn Moon, is named because this is when crops are gathered at the end of the Summer season.

This is a 9 mile loop hike, starting at the Hamburg Reservoir parking lot and then going up to the Pulpit and Pinnacle for spectacular views of the rising full moon. Sunset is at 7:26pm and moonrise is at 7:28pm.

This is not a beginner's hike due to the ~1200' ascent, rocky terrain and nighttime conditions. Sturdy hiking boots are recommended. Bring a headlamp or flashlight, at least 2 liters of water and food/snacks. Also bring extra layers for when we are sitting at the Pinnacle waiting for the full moon to rise. Rain or cloudy conditions may cancel.

We'll cover trails in both French Creek State Park and Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, including both Hopewell Lake and Scotts Run Lake and trails on both sides of Route 345. Trails are rocky and hilly and could be muddy and therefore sturdy hiking boots are recommended. Please bring at least 2 liters of water plus lunch and snacks. Steady rain cancels.
